This one is from the Norwegian Thrash Metal/Industrial band Red Harvest, with some well produced tunes, really fast tracks (Ad Noctum,) really slow tracks (The Supreme Truth,) and overall a fun listen with notable presence of local Black Metal influence (Because obviously you can't play any type of music in Norway without being influenced by the local Black Metal scene, not even grandpa guitar [This is not a bad thing {Relatively.}])

this band comes from boston, Massachusetts . they was formed in late 80's. they play this kind of oldschool stoner/sludge mixed with down tempo hardcore anthems. imagine you could take all the hardcore punk sludgy riffs you like and make a full discography out of it. fucking awesome!

M.E.S.S. - Early Recording

This is an early set of songs recorded in mid 2007 by the Tel-Aviv Hardcore group M.E.S.S. (or Mr. Error Sound System). It was done in a single session and mixed by Yanir from Mondo Gecko, after the initial band's lineup had changed and their style leaned more toward Hardcore Punk, as can be heard in this record.

These songs were later re-recorded and mixed by Edge of Sanity's Dan Swanö, resulting in a notable change of style, rooted in Swanö's huge experience with the sound engineering of Swedish Progressive and Death Metal, and a shift in the vocal style from a blend of clean shouts, hardcore-ish screams and sometimes melodic singing to purly harcore screaming. That final version has been released as their 2008 album Weekend Ritual Massacre, available at Urban Decay Records, with addition of newer songs that were written especially for the album, minus a couple of tracks that were dropped, but are still on the earlier version (i.e., this one.)

grief is one of the most influential bands in sludge music. keeping their raw sounds with down tuned guitars and screams full of agony. their music is highly meditative in a fucked up way.
the band was formed in 91 and split up in 2001. in 2005 they fomred up again and played few reunion shows.

This HHH retrospective was written by their guitar player Marc, for the recent double CD discography. Thanks to Luc for helping me out!

The story of the band was very simple: one day Alex, Marc and Koki decided to emulate the bands they had interviewed or reviewed in their zine, so they created a band just to play the kind of music they liked. The line-up didn't include a bass player because at that time it was impossible to find one in Banyoles who was interested in punk rock music. 8 months after the first practice, but with lots of songs - because we only played with a 2 string guitar so it was easy for all of us to make music -- we recorded the Sin Identidad demo.
HHH Personally I've always thought that this demo was one of the great releases from the incipient Spanish HC movement, especially since Koki used to practice on petrol cans and detergent boxes - that was the second time in his life playing on a real drumkit (the first one had been two months prior to that supporting Frites Modern in Barcelona). One year later we recorded the Intelectual Punks 7". The lack of record labels in Spain forced us to put it out abroad. We released the EP on Dissonance Records from Germany, at the same time GRB and L'Odi Social released their 7"s in Italy for the same reason. The new HHH songs departed from the Scandinavian HC influences and the music became faster. Moreover on that record Alex started to sing/play bass. Our idea was to make a 12-song EP but there were some problems with the length of time so finally we only included 9 songs and we kept the rest in store for a future compilation LP on the same record label, but it was never released. In that same studio session we recorded 5 extra tracks. Of all these songs only Jim was used on an excellent compilation LP against sexism, released by Nabate Records (Belgium). After a first failed attempt to record a full HHH LP, the influences of crossover and thrash metal bands led us to a more exclusive work for some years with Overthhhrow, a HC-metal project band.
In the spring of 1990 we recorded A Por Ellos... LP with an important line-up change: Koki became singer/drummer (as he used to do in Overthhhrow) and Alex concentrated all his work playing bass and his energy on stage jumping out of control and making our shows more exciting.
The songs from this LP probably stand for the genuine essence of HHH music: raw sound and maximum speed. The release of this record coincided with the beginning of the first Spanish record labels and the HC spread.
In the summer of 1991 we recorded Homo Homini Lupus, a split LP with Vitu's Dance. We worked in a different studio and we got our best production, a very powerful sound mixing speed with the metallic influences of Overthhhrow. Some years later Rumble Records reissued the 13 songs on CD format with an extra song Pesadilla, recorded to appear on a compilation that was never released (again the same old story). HHH played the last show - without knowing that would be the last one - with 24 Ideas in Barcelona in July 1993. Today, 7 years later, Alex lives in Donosti. He's a cook, he has got his own restaurant and he plays guitar in a band featuring people from other well-known punk/HC bands from Euskadi. Koki is a secondary school teacher. He has got a pair of guitars at home. He likes experimenting with old recordings and creating art/videos with HHH songs. Marc used to distribute HC stuff but 2 years ago he left it definitively. The three of us stay involved in a way or another into hardcore, at least listening to the hundreds of new bands or reading fanzines, and I know we'll be into it for a long, long time still.
Actually, every day when I drive to my work new rhythms and lyrics come to my head as it used to happen when the band was active... I guess the spirit lives on.

Asbestos Death

Asbestosdeath started life as trio. They recorded two 7"s: their first ("Unclean", 1990) was self released (Asbestos Records) and a second 7' ("Dejection," 1990) was released later that year by profane existance. their guitarist (Tom Choi) left the band to form Noothgrash after the release of the second 7". The band recruited Justin Marler to replace Choi and changed their name to sleep (what later became half Om and half High on fire).
In 2007, shoutheren lord records reissued Asbestosdeath's two 7"s on CD and 10" vinyl. The four songs on the album comprises the entirety of Asbestosdeath's recordings.

BOTCH - We Are The Romans (2000)

Botch started playing back in 1993, and through their 9 years of existence they managed to release 3 LPs, 3 EPs, and 4 splits with Cave In, Murder City Devils and more. Their influence on modern hardcore is truly remarkable, and I think they never really got the respect and recognition they deserve. This one is one of my alltime favorite albums, and in my opinion their best. It got remastered and reissued this year by Hydra Head, with another CD added full of demos and live versions of the songs.

Cave In formed in 1995, in Methuen, Massachusetts. They released 5 LPs, 6 EPs and 4 splits, and broke up in 2006. Their members have played in many other good bands, such as Converge, Old Man Gloom, Zozobra and more.

COALESCE - 012:2 Revolution in Just Listening (1999)

I think this is the only band in this post that's still alive. Formed in 1994, Coalesce released 4 LPs (including a Led Zeppelin covers record), 4 EPs and 5 splits with Converge, Napalm Death, Today is the Day and the Get Up Kids before splitting up in 1999. They reformed in 2005 to release another great EP, a DVD and several reissues, including this album through Relapse Records, and are now working on a new LP.

CURL UP AND DIE - Unfortunately, We're not Robots (2002)

This one is more influenced than influental. Curl Up and Die are from Las Vegas, Nevada, and play this really fun and catchy brand of mathcore. They started in 1998, disbanded in 2005 and released 2 LPs and 4 EPs during their lifetime.

NEGAZIONE

It's time to speak now about what for me was the greatest band in those years, and probably as well one of the most known outside of Italy. Negazione started playin in Torino in 1983 and kept the flame high for nine years. The band rose as a side project of 5 Braccio, where Tax (guitar) and Orlando (drums) used to play. The idea of Negazione was to give a much more individual approach to the lyrics and attitude and avoid slogans that were very common in 5 Braccio. Negazione changed a lot through the years, even though their best period for me is concentrated in their first three years when there music was a strange hybrit of fast and furious hardcore, bitter melodies and the unique screamings of Zazzo, one of the best hardcore voices ever. The lyrics as well are awesome. On this post, I uploaded "Early days, wild bunch", which is a collection of their first three releases (the split tape with declino, the 7" of Tutti Pazzi and "Condannati a Morte Nel Vostro Quieto Vivere"EP, where I think their best tracks are) and "Lo Spirito Continua", an album released in 1986 that many consider their best work. What came after those years was nice, but nothing at all compared to the intensity of their first music.

CHAIN REACTION

I'm gonna leave now northen Italy for a moment and have a look at what was going on in the extreme south, in this case the city of Bari. The big wave of hardcore punk in Italy's eighties mainly touched northern cities as Milano, Torino and all the sorrounding area, but some very valid things were moving in the south as well, like Chain Reaction. The band, which many people don't even know about existence, was one of the fastest complexes playin in the first eighties in Italy. I really know little about them, only that they were active between 1982 and 1986 and that "Gabbie"EP (1985) is their only release. The music is mainly a fast kind of hardcore punk caracterized by some street punk elements, while the singer reminds me a lot of Siege somehow. A really good one, I heard they reunited sometime ago...

Lets stay in the south for this one. Underage come from noneless than Napoli, and definitly know what oldschool hardcore punk is about. They were active between 81 and 83."Africani, Marocchini, Terroni" is their 7" from 1983. Young, pissed, raw and screaming hardcore with no compromises. Seriously, I dont think I have a lot to add about them, download and understand.

BLOODY RIOT

Roma capoccia! Moving anly a bit northen than Napoli, it's time to speak about Italy's capital city, Roma. This city's scene in the eighties was probably the most punkish, rude, ignorant, drunk and apolitical scene in Italy. During the eighties, roman punx were kinda considered like flees by northern anarcho-puv from ambients like the Virus squat. But Rome's punx revenge on the northern political punx was the infamous slogan "we do mess, we break everything but at least we wash ourselves". 20 years later, did anything change??? Eheheheh, anyways Bloody Riot was the main band in Rome's scene. Very aggressive and metallic hardcore punk, musically few steps above most of other italian hardcore punk bands then. They were formed ion 1982 and broke up in 1987, "Disubbidisciti" is a collection of all their released material published in 2001. These dudes were known as a very angry and dangerous wrecking crew, they were some sort of godfathers of modern chaos punk, though their lyrics were far better than most of the mohawked shit floating around today. EU'S ARSE

Literaly, a diminutive of Europe's Arse, which was how other punks in Europe were defining Italy's scene. Eu's Arse started playing in Udine (next to the border with Slovenia) in 1981 and released "Lo stato ti vuole? bene, fottilo!" in 1982 and a split with Impact one year later. Many consider these dudes the Italian Discharge, due to thei rawish versuon of punk and the lyrics obsessed with war and horrors. Today most of these things are boring, but remember we're speaking of fukken 1982. The first song in this CD is an anthem. The split with Impact I'll upload in the SPLITS section.

This is another thing many of you might know already. Impact were formed in 1980 in the city of Ferrara and played one of the fastest, inventive and angriest hardcore punk in the whole peninsula! "Solo Odio"from '82 , as far as I'm concered was their best release and what I'm posting here. Their split with Eu's Arse you can find in the SPLITS sections i'm gonna upload on the next Italian Hardcore post. Extremely powerful trio that will shake your balls if you still never heard of them. Hardcore punk spaghetti style!

Imagine the year 1985. In the USA, speaking of fast and thrashy hardcore punk,next to the names D.R.I., Cryptic Slaugher and C.O.C. people name Raw Power, an extremely fast, technical and powerful band that made all the road from Italy to play some shows. Same year, you get on a plain to Italy and ask people about this great band. "Raw Power", they would say, "Isn't that an Iggy Pop album?".
The point is that, Raw Power, maybe the best band to play in Italy's 80s gained much, much, much more success anywhere else than Italy, maybe cause their lyrics were in English? who knows... I just know that these dudes from Reggio Emilia started playing awesome hardcore in 1981 and had to wait 5 years to get some audience in the peninsula. Anyhow, "screams from the gutter", released in 1984 on an american label and followed by an american tour, is their ultimative master-piece. Extremely technical and fast hardcore punk with a big touch of thrash.

Italy Eighties part 1

Ok, this one is gonna be quite a long post. I decided to make it just in order to present some crucial history/discography of what happened in italian hardcore scene at the beginning of the eighties, one of the most furious, raging and active countries where punk rock ever stepped. Since it's impossible for me to resume everything in one post i'm just gonna speak of the albums and bands that influenced me.

TAMPAX / HITLER SS

All right, this has nothing to do with the bands I'm gonna speak of later, but it's definitly the punkest thing that ever came out of Italy. Tampax and Hitler SS are the first italian punk bands ever. They come from a provincial shithole called Pordenone and they started playin back in 1977. This split than is the first spaghetti punk piece, and believe me, it's worth every second of it. Dirty, disgusting 77punk punk played with high irony. Some of the songs here for me meant nights of non-stopping laugh. Awesome

5#BRACCIO

This band was one of the most politically outspoken bands in Italy, active between 1982 and 1984 in Torino. Raw, dirty and screaming oldschool hardcore punk built mainly on slogans ("we will piss on your graves"style, as you can see one slogans still were punkish and not PC like today). Very active in the squatting of the historic "Virus" squat, fundamental act for those years. What I post here is the "Vanichiglia" demo from 1982. By the way this band is what came before Negazione.

BLUE VOMIT

Let's stay in Torino, which many consider the biggest hardcore city in italy's eighties. Blue Vomit was an extreme expression of irony and nihilism. Fast, raw, dirty, catchy and sometimes dark hardcore punk with misanthropic and sarcastic attitude (song titles like "I dont stand up in the bus for old men", "I live in a dead city", "Vaffanculo"). These dudes were active between 1978 and 1983 and released only two demos, of which I'm gonna upload only the better second one. Their singer was Luca Abort, the guy which founded later Nerorgasmo, and died few years ago with a needle in his veins.

NERORGASMO
With no doubts the darkest band that ever took place in Italy in the eighties. Formed by Luca Abort (Blue Vomit) and Simone Chinotto, Nerorgasmo played a slow and guttural kind of hardcore punk, with extremely individual and nihilistic lyrics that mainly dealt with the urban decayTheir years of activity were 1984-1993, the year when their singer was found dead of O.D. Some consider them the italian version of The Germs, but I'm really not convinced about that, I'd rather define them unique and unimitable. They released only two records, an EP in 1985 with guttural shouts and an LP in 1993 with much better sound and totally different singing. Both I uploaded.

DECLINO

One of the best bands posted here if you ask my opinion. Still Torino, still raging hardcore. Active between 1982 and 1985, Declino released two EPs and a split tape with Negazione. Declino's music was some sort of italianized oldschool hardcore, with very fast parts, raw sound and crude melodies. But indeed they knew how to play. They were the first straight edge band in italy, though their attitude wasnt at all connected to their personal choices, and as far as i know they never played with X on their hands. Their lyrics also dealt with alienation in modern society in a great way, and their approach to reality was really awesome.

Here's something a little different. One of the original punk jazz groups of the New York No Wave scene, the Contortions were led by saxophonist James Chance, aka James White. Their first recorded appearance, credited solely as the Contortions, was on the 1978 compilation, No New York. The following year, two albums were issued almost simultaneously on the ZE label, Buy the Contortions (an extreme jazz-punk LP) and Off White.

This was out in 1979, and will definately blow your mind if you're into weird and highly innovative music.

I've been missing out Israel for 3 months, also missing this great great blog so got some stuff to catch up. but before that. I'll put some stuff I had the great chance to see live that are still missing in this big whole music blog database:

start with Fucked Up some say "experimental hardcore", for me its just another great hardcore band influenced by early 80's american punk rock bands, only doing it more rich and filled sound, songs and records are maybe too long for a punk band. ( I think) their newest release kinda suck with guitar effects and sound effects which aren't necessary at all in punk rock music, still their 2006's huge release - hidden world is awesome. although I prefer their very early releases the most, all those little 7" are their best, not too long and still kick ass in their fucked up way.
like many bands today playing punk, they more likely doing the "real thing" on the live show, the recordings are cool, but the live show is awesome, rich sound by 3 guitarists, a female bass player that looks kind of shy and vulnerable although she's very protruding and kick ass. The singer is the most entertaining person in fucked up's live show, weather he is talking and showing warm and love to the German's cold crowed, or spend most of the show being in the crowed searchign for some who know the songs lyrics or just picking up people to crowd surf.
amazing band kizer, there are tons of deep reviews about their music over the internet, if you are really interested although i think its not that important - just listen to the band dammit.

Dean Dirg warmed up for Fucked up. I think Germany heroes of fast, short, loud and oldschool punk rock. for me sounds like these guys dedicated a lot of listening to Zero Boys, Angry Samoans, Adolescents, D.I, and shitloads of old fast hardcore music.
German crowd seem to like them alot, pogo dancing and stage diving of course, the singer like to attend to the show with glamorous shining clothing, which is funny, though different but after all it is 2008 and they are playing 80's kinda punk rock.
During Brutal Assault's tour last year they had a show with Dean Dirg.

Paint it black are a great live hardcore band, although they also have been through a change since their 2008's release which is not their best in my opinion, also including sound effects which suck.Like a lot of hardcore bands these days achieving some success and then trying to reach some top and get more famous (?), I think they also had this twist to be more "experimental" which is not so good for hardcore bands.Dan Yemin is a band member of more known melodic hardcore punk bands - Lifetime and Kid Dynamite - only in this case he steps toward the mic and he does it EXTREME!
They toured with Trash Talk which I missed in this whole big ZXZW festival that happened in Tilburg, Netherlands, which also Suckinim Baenaim took part in.

New Lexicon

Hanson Brothers are - post-Ramones, very obsessed with hockey sports, made by punk rock oldies - punk rock band from Canada. not much people reading this blog are into this popish punk rock but they do it really awesome and really rock n roll - like the Ramones!. I haven't dedicated much to NoMeansNo but their drummer is the lead singer of the Hanson Brothers. They are all old, drunk, acting nonadult like which was really funny to see. they played with the Apers, that also play a really popy- punkrock. I guess the thing at their show was to hear their sinegr making laugh of their SxE guitarist which doesn't drink beer, which I personaly think is really rare to find in t hose kind of pop-punk bands, but of course - it doesn't matter.

Seein Red are pretty known hardcore punk band from the Netherlands, except making jokes of their age and being SxE they played the roughest show I've seen in Germany. I saw RED, along with jumping or just playing so rough and tight. They have tons of releases and splits, so this is only a small taste of this very aggresive political hardcore punk la partzuf

Chuck Damage oldschool aggressive hardcore punk very influenced by Negative Approach, Posin Idea, Tear It Up. Reminded me very much of Brutal Assault. coming from Munster, Germany. The drummer Jan is a real cool guy that plays also in 2 other hardcore punk bands - N ervous Breakdown and Toxic Revolution.

Nervous Breakdown had a show with Mondo Gecko in Mainz - Haus Mainus place - which I would have seen only if I wasn't that dumb enough to fall asleep in a car because of antibiotics weakness, you can watch the hell that mondo gecko organized for this show here - at that same place about a month earlier FxPxO - hardcore band from Macedonia - had a show with Suckinim Baenaim and Vaseline Children which declared to be "cavemen people" and because of that do not own a myspace page. Vaseline children reminded me very much of Tear it up, but weren't that exciting for me. and f.p.o was like the European Brutal Assault, only the music was less interesting then them.

FxPxO - giving birth in order to kill

La Casa Fantom (official website) are 2 men band, bass and drums, both sings, and dig in the dark melodic crust punk - way, I don't know how to determine it and so does the band members, it's really not important anyway. I think the most DIY from all bands I've seen these guys, apparently have their own place in the forest to make and record their music. you can dig about them more in their official website but more important just listen to them!
They played a really long set a the Haus Mainush, the crowd just couldn't get enough and it looked like the band played like4-5 songs more then they planned.

November 13th melodic crust punk band, for me sounds like another band f ollowing Tragedy only better and not another cheap attemp to copy them, but jsut improving it with richer drummings and guitars, doing it in a very punk rock way.
I talked with the bass player/ vocalist which for him November 13th is a hardcore band, not reffering much to crust common boredom.
unforthenatly I didnt find the band's albums online, so theres a myspace page and an official one

Grinding Halt I really don't know about this one, it reminds me of Shikari, like a fast thrashy crust hardcore band.
at the ZXZW festival in Tilburg, Netherlands they replaced for Seein Red which canceld at the very end. Again - only myspace for this till maybe I'll find a way to rip vinyls to mp3 (the same with Novermber 13th). but check them out really good heavy shit to hear. official website

Ding Dong Dead I'm not a fan of screamo at all, but this band is sick, the drummer plays for 5 years and taught himself to play the drums, 2 gifted guitarist who propably spent some time on their tools, and yeah of course - 2 throats grinding singers.
They played twice with Suckinim Baenaim a day after another in Munster and in Osnabruck which are realy close. I don't know much how screamo sounds beside Orchid and maybe a few more but this one is extraordinary for sure breaks a few screamo boundries

Tour Ep 2008

I was pretty sure that Torche was mentioned here before. I heard about them a short time after they released their latest album. I've seen them live also at the ZXZW fest'. a really cool sludg metal band, their latest is more soft, melodic and punk rock then the genre given to them, I still didnt hear their older stuff or the side project bands, so I can't relate to their past or musical backgroud but it sounds heavy though still melodically sweet. they played on Orange amps and blast the place with bass vibes, also outro their show with a very long play, just digging peoples minds plugging a loose stings guitar at the end of their show just for that, besides that they gave a really great warm show.

Meanderthal

Hongo that I posted in the past spanish fellows quit change their direction to more heavy crust /metal something,I think their first 2004 demo is the greatest. they had their show at the Schnapsfabric, together with a local crust/punk band- Status//Hysterie and also a band named Confused which seem to be like an old punk rock legend from Germany that had their last tour (and also last show that same night).
Suckinim Baenaim had a show with Los Dolares from spain and Wartorn from the US, both play kind of crust/punk stuff which I'm not into, besides that great people.

along with the crusty Germany also ran into Disfear , Victims and Post War Depression.
doom/metal is not my thing, but seeing live performance of doom is awesome! B.son (Black Shape Of Nexus) is the first and by now the only doom metal I've seen live, and it was amazing I never thought I could enjoy a slow heavy drum beat (only live!).
One thing for sure if you like crust music you should definitely move to Germany, Sweden or any other EU country.

I think that's it for the Germany/Netherlands journey review. All the things been said from a personal point of view not judging or criticizing, I wish only good luck for these bands specially for those who are still trying to distribute their name and get bigger there in the EU countries and their local scenes.

Unruh - Misery Strengthen Faith

Here's another underestimated band. I know really little about Unruh, I downloaded few years ago their CD by "mistake", but hell, it was worth every megabyte occupied on my slow computer. They play some sort of very metallic and sludgy hardcore punk with heavy sound, tempos that run from blast beats and crossover rythms to stoner and kicking ass breakdowns, all fronted by an ill-pissed-desperate voice that makes your skin crawl. Their lyrics are very introspective and deep but indeed require thinking, dont miss a chance to listen to this one.

The "Original Sound Version" compilation includes the complete "Ulterior" LP plus several demo/rehearsal versions of the same songs as well as just about every split released before 1995. As Tom said, it's never too late for reviving this blog with fast music. So here's a great way to begin the day. Death Before Work bring us killer play-fast-bandana-core straight from Milan, this is their first release. I saw them one time few months ago and it was for sure the most refreshening thing I've been seeing in Italy for long time, and definitly one of the best bands rockin the old continent nowdays. The influences go clearly from good ol' crossover acts as Cryptic Slaughter to more recent thrashcore stuff like What Happens Next?, Crucial Unit and Common Enemy with a big touch of grining blast beats a la Terrorizer. Another cool thing to mention about them is their lyrics, that deal with any kind of subject ironicly (just check the second pic in the post). Their song titles are some of the most original I read lately: from the first "I listen to the Smiths but also to Deicide,m so what?" through "I live too close to my workplace so i can't listen to all my tapes" till "Bologna has a good scene, too bad i live in Milano".
I already posted sometime ago a great split of them with Rome's piercing grind masters Comrades which you can get right here. Forgot something? Some of their members played in other grat bands like Sswiissh and Nervi. Download and play veeery loud

Jesus fuckin christ naked with an apple in his mouth!!! Few days ago I posted first Discarga's release mainly cause I couldnt find anywhere on the web their last record "Musica Pra Guerra" which release was followed by an european tour this summer.
Compared to this, the other records get from "awesome" to "nice". In this last LP these three crazy brazilian thrashers push themselves to the limit finding a balanced and explosive sound which makes their music sound much aggressive than ever. Speed has no limits and bass lines kick ass (there's a reason why the share bass player with Ratos De Porao). If you ever have a chance to catch their live, dont loose the opportunity to see this hardcore lesson.

Tom asked me to post this here. To be honest, this is fucking insane. I mean, I guess most of you know what SIEGE is all about, but this video points out how crazy these kids were back in 1984. The TV set is hilarious - this was shown on Public Access Television, it looks like they shot this in a classroom and forgot to take the flag out, or maybe it was some sort of a right-wing, asshole school and they demanded the flag to be shown in return for the space. Who knows. A true classic!

I wrote about these dudes some months ago, and they're here with a new exciting project: they've asked some of their favorite artists to do remixes to songs off their latest album, Board Up the House. It turned out to be tons of remixes so they divided them by 5 volumes, and this is the first one, put out by Temporary Residence Limited. This one includes four fresh remixes done by Steve Moore (Earth), Justrin Broadrick (Jesu, Napalm Death, Godflesh), Rob Crow (Pinback I think) and Eluvium. It turned out pretty good with 2 amazing remixes (Jesu and Eluvium) and two... interesting ones.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed have finished a new full length album (as yet untitled) and a split 5" with Crom. Aswell as working on a 5" with Insect Warfare for Relapse Records, a Split 7" with The Endless Blockade for Relapse Records, a split 7" with Agents Of Satan (label currently unknown), a 7" with Lack Of Interest and a CD/LP with Despise You (maybe for Relapse, as yet unconfirmed). Scott Hull has just finished his compilation entitled "This comp kills fascists!" (with bands such as Insect Warfare, Asra, Agents Of Satan, Brutal Truth, Weekend Nachos and Magrudergrind plus more), James Randall is currently working on Drum Machine Gun 2 as well as doing a collaborative 7" with Wadge and a collaborative 12" with Black Mayonnaise. A hefty schedule!

take one guy from infest (matt domino) and another guy that later will form man is the bastard (eric wood) and you get NEANDERTHAL. some say they are the first powerviolence band, i think they are definitely an integral part of the hardcore/powerviolence evolution.

the 'Man is the bastard' family tree seems bigger every day, bands like crossed out, no comment, pissed happy children, infest and few others definitely shaped what we know today as powerviolence.

108 - A New Beat from a Dead Heart

108 are an american hardcore band. They formed back in 91, after the break-up of Inside Out, by the Hare Krishna devotees Vraja Kishor das (aka Vic DiCara) and Rasaraja dasa (aka Rob Fish). After releasing several full lengths through Equal Vision Records, they broke up in 1996, and DiCara relocated to India and became a monk. 9 years later, the band decided to get together again, and in 2006 they released a 2CD album of some b-sides they never released. In 2007 they released their first fresh album in 10 years, produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge, fittingly called A New Beat from A Dead Heart. Even after so many years they still fucking rule.

this is a great album from the great great band MAN IS THE BASTARD, this band contributed a whole lot of values to the experimental hardcore punk scene. they are coming from claremont, california. they existed from 1991-1997, and preached about politics and social awerness, playing their raw hardcore/powerviolence sometimes slow, sometimes slower... later on members from MITB formed BASTARD NOISE an experimental noise group (myspace.com/mitbnoise) .
this album SUM OF MEN/THE BRUTALITY CONTINUES first came out in 91, this is the reisuued version from 96 with more 24 tracks added to the original 8.

Ratos De Porao - Another Crime In... Massacreland

Absolutely fucking wonderful... Some of you (most, probably), already know this brazilian legend. Well, if you dont you should, cause these dudes have a big lesson in hardcore to teach everyone. They started out back in 1980 playing aside other great brazilian bands like Lobotomia. Back then they used to play some sort of GBH Varukers style Raw Punk. Since then till last "Homen Inimigo De Homen" they released 13 full length albums spacing between most extreme genres of hardcore, from d'beat to crossover thrash. This album came out on 1994 and among with "Anarkophobia" is their bast thrash crossover act. Fast, raw, 13 counts of headbanging hardcore a la S.O.D. all sang in portuguese. What could ever be better than this??
I heard bass player of allmighty brazilian thrashcore Discarga plays there now. The singer, known as "El Gordo" is also a VJ on brazilian MTV.

Entombed - Clandestine

now for something a little bit diffreent...

This is Entombed's sophomore release which like their debut album "Left Hand Path" was also recorded at the renowned Sunlight Studios in Sockholm, Sweden and produced by Tomas Skogsberg.
The year 1991 had produced some of the decades most brutal Death Metal albums of all time ie...Grave "Into The Grave", Asphyx "The Rack", Unleashed "Where No Life Dwells" etc...and of course Entombed's "Clandestine" which by far is an outsatnding follow up release.
Like "Left Hand Path" the brutality and heaviness is still present, but on this album their seems to be a bit more melody in the songs and catchier riffs with more hooks that will keep you listening and wanting more which makes the replay value high on this album. Up to this album I was a huge Entombed fan, seems like Entombed kind of went disarray after this release heading more towards a rock sound that just wasn't the same. It's kind of hard to say which is better "Left Hand Path" or "Clandestine", of course I will always enjoy listening to both these albums, but I think that "Clandestine" is just a tiny bit better production and songwriting wise.
For those of you that haven't heard this album yet or even heard of it which i'm sure most of you have, you must go buy it or burn it off someone because this is pure Swedish Death Metal at its finest.

After a 7” single and two split releases with Rue and Sod Hauler, the time has come for the first full length album of this Portland’s trio. ALDEBARAN play doom/sludge and all their previous works forced a lot people of the genre to notice them… “Dwellers In Twilight” includes three epic songs which balance between the traditional U.S. doom riffing and the nihilistic sludge core aesthetic. For those who dont, here's some lazy description: Magrudergrind hail from Washington DC and they play some sort of extremely fast thrash-violence. One guitar, no bass, raging vocals, fukken awesome. Sanitys Dawn are similar by gender, though their songs sometime remind more czech fastcore bands. They're german, which sucks, but they absolutely kick ass with over 18 years of carreer. This split is from '05 and its speed will blow your guts out.

Colonna Infame Skinhead

Ok, this is some unusual post for me. Colonna Infame Skinhead is probably the best oi! band ever existing, and also one of the most particular. They were formed around 95 by a skinhead and three hardcore kids including Paolo Petraglia on voice, allmighty singer of Comrades, roman ThrashGrindHC a go go legends. The intention in forming the band, writes Paolo in an interview, was to revive angry street Oi! that back in the nineties was only in hands of RAC bands. I'm not a big fan of Oi!, but this band means a lot for me, they're angry, heavy and theyre music very often ends up in hardcore punk rather than Oi!. Every song is an anthem, good to listen to while biking. What im posting here is a discography, including some of the best Oi!Core riffs ever written. For everyone, even anti-oi lazy asses like some who post on this blog (uhmn....)
They broke up in 98 and reunited for two years in 99. Paolo, that also left Comrades back in 2001, owns s.o.a. records, one of the best places to get some good hardcore vinyls and CDs. Roberto', another ex-C.I.S. militant, runs a punk-hardcore-grind-thrash-trash-soul-funk record store in Rome, Hellnation, if you ever end up in Rome I assure you a visit there is more adviced than the coliseum.

Gospel was an amazing band from Brooklyn, NY. They played this very bizzare and psychedelic progressive rock with lots of hardcore and punk influences. During their short period of existence they released a split with The Kodan Armada and a full length called The Moon Is a Dead World in 2005 through punk label Level Plane Records. They announced a break up in late 2006. This might be one of my favorite albums, open your mind and give it a try.

Eaves - Höhenangst

Eaves were a melodic hardcore band with great screaming vocals from Aachen, Germany. They released a LP called Höhenangst, a demo tape and 2 splits with Atrox and Francis Brady before breaking up in late 2005. Members formed the band Trainwreck, which is really not as good. They have some crust and screamo influences, and in my opinion were one of the best europe had to offer so check this out.

Hellshock - Only The Dead Know The End Of War

Fuck, was 'bout sometime I wasn't listening to this record, till few days ago it popped out in my mp3 player during some boring bus drive. Hellshock is a band that knows how to kick ass. It counts ex members of bands like Remains Of The Day, Tragedy and all sorts of Portland area karate-chop-kicking bands. The music takes its base in 80's UK crust: Amebix, Hellbastard, Axegrinder Sacrilege and Anti-Sect to name a few , but the speed is much higher and reminds some 80's german thrash and american crossover bands. "Only The Dead" is an LP from 2004 and is fucking amazing. Dark, fast, breaking, and the best is that for a crust record it's not d-beaty. The artwork is as well a master piece of Mid, veteran from UK's old stenchcore merchants, Deviated Instinct. The only thing that doesn't convince me fully is the singer's voice, but some actually really like it.
Dont know, I dont like the term "crust" anymore, which usually indicates bad bands, I'd rather call this a dark thrash record. One of the best ever, for me, can't stop listening to it. reccomended for fukken everybody.

Today Is The Day is an experimental heavy metal\noise rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, led by Steve Austin since 1992. They released 7 full-lengths as well as several splits and EPs through labels like Relapse, Hydra Head and recently Austin's Supernova Records. I put links of Willpower from 1994, Temple of the Morning Star from 1997, In The Eyes of God from 1999 and Axis of Eden from 2007. All of them are very recommended, but for a starter I'd recommend Willpower and Temple.

Harvey Milk is a sludge rock\metal band from USA, named after the assassinated San Fransisco governor. They started at 1992, broke up in 1998, and got together again in 2006 to make this amazing album. Weird enough, they haven't enjoyed much success and acknowledgement in the scene, but since releasing this record they have joined big underground labels such as Relapse and they are supposed to release a 5th full-length at Hydra Head next week called Life... The Best Game in Town.

I have no fucking idea how no one wrote about this band. Anyway, if anyone doesn't know already, Dystopia formed in Orange County, California in 1991. They are considered a sludge-metal band, popular amongst both heavy metal and crust punk scenes, due in large part to their bleak, misanthropic imagery. Lyrics deal with things from human emotion to social and political issues to environmentalism to racial equality to animal rights and vegetarianism/veganism.

Milizia HC - L'Inferno Dell'Uguaglianza LP

Hi everyone, sorry for my long abscence but unless someone finds me an hamster willing to run on a wheel to make my computer turn on i'll have to continue posting abusively like now.
Anyhow, back to our businness. I remember first time i listened to Milizia Hc back in 2004 and hell, I didn't like it. Just another random hardcore band. Few weeks ago, though, I had the chance to listen to their last full length and hell, I was amazed. What used to be Lo-Fi out of time old school hardcore yaani, became heavyfuckinthrashy fast hardcore as everyone should like. This politically militant sXe (or at least part of the members) band hails from Padova (for you Padua) and it was formed in 2003. In they same year they released the demo ''Fratellanza, Coesione'' followed in 2004 by the LP ''Militant Hardcore''.
2006's "L'Inferno Dell'uguaglianza" anyhow is their best release by far. Nothing new, just 11 tracks spitted on somebody's face with no mercy, high speed and a lot of rage (singer's screams are amazing), all of it followed by simple but excellent heavy sound. Lyrics are everything but PC or standartic, going from pure personal nihilistic frustration, to more politically aware stuff ("Avamposto Di Irrazionalita'" is probably thestongest text, in which the band contexts the absurdity in the base of Israeli's state existence and dominion of other population).
I never had the chance to see them live, since they broke up few months after this LP release. Members went on to form fastcore supergroup AntiSexy, which you should check out.

Crimpshrine - Duct Tape Soup LP

Classic punk rock band from Berkeley, California, formed in 82, this is their first LP, which includes their small releases, songs that apears on compilations and splits. Originally released in 89 on a German label, later on again in 92' on Lookout! records.

I think this one really helped define the term of "pop-punk", with many other bands from that eraly 90's scene and the East Bay area in California. also they really epitomized the DIY thing. Songs were writting mainly by the influence of drug addictions and homelessness (and surprisingly not so happy and shining like nower days pop-punk bands, however, their LP apears on my turntable at this time of the year when the sun is out).

Disband at about 89 but kept releasing splits and songs on compilations. Split into different directions but not so different after all, among other things became Pinhead Gunpowder (Green Day's Billy Joe's side project and Aaron Cometbus's - later former of No Idea record label, grate grate band), Dillinger Four, Cleavland Bound Death Sentence, Fifteen (Jeff Ott's very similar extension of Crimpshrine, also I think he is the former of Sub-City records label).

The name of the band was given to a girl they knew, she used to have crimped hair.

the best band ive heard this week till now is "whourkr" a two men french very sane cyebrgrind band featuring "igorrr", a speedcore and hardcore techno producer and "i snor" that i dont know who he is. they play it very good. electronic grind beats with guttural vox and noise fx breakdowns. fukking awsome.

So here's another great fast band for you. Panaceja come from Croatia (by the way, check out Senata Fox on Aga's blog, Lost In City Of Echoes, another great balkan band). I discovered them through the compilation I posted here some while ago, "Euro Thrash Retribution", and their sounds just made me dig in soulseek for long time till I found some other stuff of them. They play sort of fast-core, similar in some parts to Czech school of Gride, Lycanthrophy, Lahar and friends. Anyhow, they mix a lot of elements in their music, slow parts, crusty riffs, power-violence, grind etc.etc, and they do it really fucking good. As far as I know they released also some splits but this is the only full length I was able to find. Enjoy!

Thrashington DC - To Live And Die In BMO

Hello! Just got out of some weeks of laziness to spread great message of fast music to beautiful world. So here I give you Thrashington DC. They come from France: frogs legs, horrible food, even worse football, Eifel Tower, Sarkozi, Ultra Vomit.....France! Well, usually french music sucks (except some really good hip hop), but this is a band worth checking. They come from a shithole called Brest (or as they call it BMO - Breste Metropole Oceane) and play excellent americanized thrash'hardcore in vein of of Bones Brigade and friends. Short songs, aing-alongy elements and two covers (minor threat and beastie boys!). They didn't invent something new, nor emotionally excite me, they just make me smile.

Rossz Csillag Alatt Született was out in 2005, and is probably one of the best albums in the genre. Pink + Green was out in 2007, represents a more fun and much more complex (and sick) style of Funk.

First of all, what's wrong with all of u here??!!
Its been way 2 long since anyone uploaded anything here, so com'on start bombin'!!
Common enemy plays thrash/skatecore it's all about skate, booze and circle pit (by the way what's the deal with no circle pit in fucking isra-hell, huh??) which means their music is fun, fast and crazy.They come from Reading, Pennsylvania n they have 4 records so far.

n with songs like "build ramps not bombs", "thrashing under the influence", n "skate that shit" u just can't stay indifferent.

This is some good discovery. This band comes from Indonesia, as far as I understood, and besides that, I seriously know nothing about them. I just know it was one of the best downloads I did in the last month. They play some kind of very atmospheric crust hardcore, with some metal influences, epic bullshit, scandi-core, thrash riffs, synthethyizers and effects. Something between His Hero Is Gone, Fall Of Efrafa and local Achzavoth. Anyhow, with such a name, could a band play bad?
I post here also a clip from the their show, that besides first hillarious 30 seconds is great.
